If you missed our introduction to The Residence Zanzibar – we highly recommend checking it out! This post is going to highlight the gorgeous villas at The Residence as well as the features, amenities, and charm of our stay!
We were blown away when we approached our villa. The gardens surrounding the villa alone were breathtaking! Parked outside your villa are complimentary bikes to cruise around the property with – an awesome amenity we took advantage of every day. The large Zanzibarian double doors are picturesque in themselves! The Residence has a RFID security system that tracks every entry into your villa and programs your key for only your stay. The double doors open up to a large living room area with a flat screen TV, iPhone docking speaker station, DVD player, sitting area, and mini bar. The mini bar comes with complimentary bottled water and hot tea. There is an electric kettle and a nespresso coffee maker at your fingertips in your room! The mini bar is also stocked with soda, beer, wine, and snacks for purchase. Your living room has floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that open up to your private pool and deck on the back of your villa!
Our sweet & welcoming butler Hassan showed us all around our room as we checked in as well as highlighted how things worked and had a bottle of wine chilling for us with chocolate dipped fruits! It was all the details that pulled together and made our stay truly perfection.
As you move into the bedroom, there is a heavenly king bed that faces out to your private pool and again has floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that open right up to your deck. The large wardrobes behind the bed are equipped with robes, slippers, laundry bags, and a safe. Just beyond the bedroom is your large bathroom – my favorite part of the villa.
The bathroom was HUGE! Behind the bathroom is a small garden courtyard equipped with an outdoor shower and large privacy wall. The whole room was flooded with light due to the sliding glass doors just beyond the tub and shower. From the gorgeous double sinks, to the large tub, to the indoor waterfall shower, outdoor shower, and deliciously smelling provided soaps, bath salts, shampoos and loofah. The bathroom was my oasis! I took baths at least twice a day! We had a few visitors on our privacy wall also, monkeys! How fun is that?!
They have a housekeeping staff that comes on bikes in the morning and re-makes your room. And then again in the evening! In the evening they turn down your bed, lay your slippers and robe out, set a bottle of water and a glass on your nightstand, close the shades, and have the lights dimmed for you as you come back from dinner! Again, it was all the details the staff provided for us that made our stay truly perfection!
My second favorite part of the villa was our private deck and pool, it really put the whole thing OVER.THE.TOP. Our villa was very private with bushes surrounding our deck and pool. We swam everyday in our private pool because, um, hello private pool right?! Also, one day a staff member who was working in the gardens brought us a freshly chopped down coconut and opened it up for us to drink the coconut water right out of it. This was a highlight of the trip for me!
We had one rainy day while we were in Zanzibar and we were honestly so excited because we looooooooved just staying in our villa! Staying in was a vacation in itself! Although the main glass walled swimming pool, delicious restaurant, daily snorkeling trip, jetty, boathouse, spa, and gardens did draw us out of our villa! More on each of those details coming in later posts! Stay tuned!
