Joe and I celebrated our third anniversary last week in warm and sunny Florida. We decided super last minute to go because Allegiant Air had tickets from Cincinnati – direct – round trip for $104 each (WOWZA) – plus we bundled our hotel with our air tickets and they had a sale for buy 3 nights get the 4th free. We LOVE a good travel deal. We got such a good deal because we flew down on a Tuesday and came back on a Saturday. We also packed light and didn’t pick our seats to avoid extra fees because Allegiant is a low budget airline. This is a great way to make a trip happen on a budget!
We had beautiful weather, during the days it was 80s and it cooled down as the sun set. We spent most of our days reading on the beach and holding onto the sunshine! We did a lot of reminiscing about how wonderful the last three years have been for us. We savored remembering our travels and precious times of our marriage thus far.
We did rent a car for a couple days and we were complimentary upgraded to a 2014 Dodge Charger which Joe was so stoked about! HOLLA. We took a whole day and drove up and down the coast, exploring all the different islands and inlets! It was beautiful. We stayed in St. Pete’s Beach and drove around the Clearwater area & Siesta Key area. We really loved all three of those areas. We were super impressed with the beautiful bridges all over and fell in love with some multi-million dollar beach homes. We drove around for hours just looking at all the stunning homes, it was so fun!
One day we headed out to Honeymoon Island State Park to kayak on a friend’s recommendation (thanks Shawna!) and the park was beautiful! We were all jazzed to kayak but the surf was rough and it was pretty windy so we weren’t able to kayak – we just enjoyed the beaches in the park! They were some of the pretties beaches we’ve seen in the US for sure, because it’s the Gulf of Mexico the water is so clear!
We stayed at the most adorable surf hotel right on the beach called Postcard Inn – it was super well designed, clean, and was directly on the beach – we loved it! Check out the pictures of their awesome lobby, pool area, and fire pit!
All in all it was a super restful trip and we had a great time together! We love traveling to new places together and exploring so it was a perfect way to celebrate the last three years! Hope you enjoy the rest of our photos:
