During our five days in Nice, we spent a couple days exploring Old Town Nice, a day in Eze Village, a day in Monaco (blog coming soon), and a day in Ville Franche. My favorite thing we did the whole time was explore Ville Franche and relax on the beach there. It was the most lovely little French coastal town. With crepes in hand we explored the flower covered buildings lining the Riviera.
We spent hours and hours soaking in the sun on the beach. Most of the beaches in Nice and the surrounding area are not sandy beaches but very rocky. The beach in Ville Franches has very, very fine pebbles – almost sand like. The water is crystal clear and unbelievably blue. If you haven’t noticed already, Joe and I both LOVE to read on our kindles everywhere we go, it’s so relaxing for the both of us to get lost in a good book and then chat about it together. Ahhhhhh. We spent a lot of time just relaxing and reading there – it was the perfect place to kick back and read.
We ate at a café right on the water called, Point Kom Café, their pizza was really, really good and their crepes were off the charts. Definitely recommend the crepes there. The pace in Ville Franche was much slower than in Nice & Monaco and it was mostly locals with only a few tourists here and there. If you find yourself on the French Rivieria and only have a couple days – I would skip the touristy area on Nice and head to Ville Franche – it is sure to not disappoint.
Hope you enjoyed our pictures from Ville Franche! Next up on our destinations post – Monaco!
