Joe’s birthday was this past weekend. YAAAAAY!! I love a reason to celebrate the life of my hubs. And C E L E B R A T E we did. We had planned a while ago while we were still in Europe for a little family vaca with my parents and siblings this weekend down at Lake Cumberland. Growing up, my parents owned a condo on the lake there and we came down nearly every weekend in the summer so we have a TON of memories in Cumberland. A weekend at the lake, to me, just defines summertime ya know? A little background on my family real quick: I am the oldest of six kids, I have 4 (AMAZING) brothers and one sweet and precious little sister, my parents are like outta this world amazing.
We had 5 days full of restful time together, cooking a lot of yummy food, reading good books, playing games, being out on the lake, boating, swimming, biking, playing golf & tennis, and taking golf cart rides. One thing that we did that was SO fun, was drive to Cumberland Falls State Park to see the waterfalls and hike. We did a 3+ mile hike together along the most gorgeous trail and had so much fun. My youngest brother Josh HATES being outdoors and exercise of any kind, but he had a great attitude and really made the hike very hilarious with his commentary.
My brother Michael is starting college this week so it was extra special to get 5 days with him before he moves on campus. My brother Ryan is getting married in two weeks (WOW!! MY BABY BRO IS BETTING MARRIED!!!!) so it was extra special for Ryan and his fiance, Kelsay, to come down and take a day to spend with us in the chaos that is planning a wedding. My brother Matthew was in New York City for school while we were away and we missed him terribly. But, it was really just so fun to be together. I felt like it was the perfect way to wrap up our summer doing summery things 😉
I love being with my family so much so to be together is bliss. Here are some pictures of our time hiking at Cumberland Falls and boating on Lake Cumberland..hope you enjoy.
