Whether you are catching a quick flight, an overseas red-eye, aboard a train, or taking a road trip, snacks are always a must for travel! I personally don’t like feeling icky while traveling so packing snacks is essential for me to fully enjoy my travel. I don’t know anyone that eats food on an airplane and can feel really good for the rest of their flight. I want to share a few of my favorite snacks to give you a good idea of what I’ve found to be most helpful while I travel. There isn’t always a guarantee you’ll be able to find a meal on the go so here’s my travel essentials. Typically, about a week before a trip, I will order everything I want to take off Amazon. This is helpful because I don’t have to go to a health food store or run around the grocery right before a trip. The prices are comparable and usually it’s in bulk so I’ll have some left over for work lunches or our next trip!
I like Clif Mojo bars for something with substance, the original Clif bars don’t do much for me but the mojo bars are delicious! My favorite one is the Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut. It tastes like you are eating a candy bar! I also really like the Peanut Butter Pretzel flavor.
Another feel good bar I get occasionally is the Cranberry Almond Kind Bar.
Fruit makes me feel really good but you can’t always keep fresh fruit fresh while traveling so I take freeze dried apples, freeze dried strawberries & bananas, and fruit leathers. I buy my freeze dried fruit from Costco or Amazon in bulk- And Stretch Island has my favorite fruit leathers.
If I can’t find fruit leather I will take Clif Fruit Rope.
My next favorite on the go fruit snack is Peter Rabbit Organic Fruit snacks—it is basically a smoothie on the go, I buy mine from Amazon or REI ahead of time. My favorite flavors are Strawberry Banana and Apply Banana. One thing to keep in mind with this snack though is that they are not less than 4 ounces so they’ll need to be checked for air travel. On long road trips though this is a perfect feel good snack!
I also throw a few individually wrapped tea bags of my favorite tea-you can always find a way to get a cup of boiling water if you need a quick pick me up. I also will occasionally bring a few small bags of individually wrapped pretzels, or pistachios for a salty snack.
