This past September I had the great honor of traveling with my dearest friend Mel. We went to nursing school together and promised once we had survived the hell of nursing school we would go on a vacation to celebrate.
We’re now in our third year of nursing and finally made time for our adventure together. We started searching for beach deals and found an AMAZING deal on an all-inclusive 7 night trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico. If you are looking for an inexpensive trip with flexible dates always go to Travelzoo first.
We counted down the 12 hour shifts for months and finally our time came! Joe jetted off to Denver for a week while we set off to lay beach side for 7 days straight.
We stayed at Akumal Beach Resort which was an all-inclusive about an hour from Cancun airport where we flew into. It had luscious landscape and was DIRECTLY on the beach, it was clean, the food was excellent, and the staff was amazingly friendly and fun.
Our goal for the trip was to do nothing for a week straight, we read books, laid in the sun, snorkeled, played beach volleyball, swam, and ate and ate and ate and ate 🙂
We never even left the resort until it was time to fly home. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. We did bring our own snorkel gear though which I would highly recommend if you are ever traveling in a region where you may snorkel if you have the room to pack it! There were beach cabanas directly on the beach where we spent most of our time.
Here a a few of my favorite pictures from the trip – I shot with my canon t4i and my 50mm lens.
